NPP Primaries: Incumbents Prevail as K.T Hammond, Ursula, Annoh-Dompreh, Asenso-Boakye, and Henry Quartey Retain Seats

In a resounding display of party loyalty and support, several incumbent Members of Parliament within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have successfully retained their seats in the recently concluded parliamentary primaries.

The primaries, marked by political fervor and enthusiastic participation, reaffirmed the standing of these seasoned politicians within their respective constituencies.

Adansi-Asokwa witnessed a decisive victory for the incumbent Member of Parliament, K.T Hammond, who emerged triumphant against his contender, Samuel Binfoh Darkwa. Hammond’s 311 votes significantly outweighed Darkwa’s 125, securing his continued representation of the constituency.

Minister for Communications and incumbent MP for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, showcased her popularity as she clinched victory with an impressive 817 votes. Her contender, Roni Paa Kwesi Nicol, trailed with 241 votes, and 20 votes were rejected.

Sylvester Tetteh secured the parliamentary primary for Bortianor Ngleshie Amafrom with 590 votes, defeating Vida Agyekum Acheampong, who polled 461 votes. Eric Kojo Kuranachie garnered 34 votes in the contest.

Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, maintained his stronghold on the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency, securing a commanding victory with 734 votes against Hayford Siaw, CEO of the Ghana Library Authority, who polled 228 votes.

Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare emerged as the victor in the Atiwa East constituency, polling 288 votes. Notable contenders in the constituency included Dr Banning, Eric Agyarko, and Adade Wiredu.

In Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye’s popularity shone through as he won the parliamentary primary with 650 votes, leaving his contender Ralph Agyapong with 186 votes.

Awutu Senya East saw Mavis Hawa Koomson secure a commanding lead with 1318 votes against her contenders Bernard Danquah, Eric Kweku Boateng, and others.

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, emerged victorious in the Ayawaso Central Constituency with 594 votes, securing his place as the NPP parliamentary candidate.

The NPP parliamentary primaries showcased the resilience and widespread support for incumbent MPs, setting the stage for a united front as the party prepares for the 2024 general elections.
