Today, July 12, 2024, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the NPP presidential candidate, has issued an apology following the reactions to his recent statements made on July 9th in Kumasi.
Dr. Prempeh’s comments, which compared President Akufo-Addo’s performance to that of previous leaders, sparked widespread debate and concern.
Dr. Prempeh clarified that his remarks were intended to express his personal opinion on President Akufo-Addo’s impact, not to disparage any former heads of state.
He emphasized that he holds great respect for all past presidents, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his grand uncle and mentor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor.
“I note the concerns raised after my statement. I apologize sincerely and regret any discomfort caused,” Dr. Prempeh stated, acknowledging the unintended consequences of his words.
The apology aims to mend any discord caused by his remarks and reaffirm his respect for Ghana’s former leaders.
