Binduri MP accuses NDC over attack on NPP constituency vehicle

Abdulai Abanga, the Member of Parliament for Binduri, has alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) orchestrated an attack on a New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency vehicle in the area.

On Monday, three masked individuals reportedly doused the MP’s campaign vehicle in petrol and set it ablaze, also firing shots into the vehicle.

Abanga stated that the incident was politically motivated, citing previous threats from their opponents. He emphasized that nothing valuable was taken from the vehicle, suggesting that the attack was intended to intimidate and suppress support for the NPP, particularly their flagbearer.

Abanga believes that the attack is a manifestation of the threats issued by their political opponents, indicating a deliberate attempt to undermine the NPP’s campaign efforts in the constituency.

Abdulai Abanga, the Member of Parliament for Binduri, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership in the constituency of issuing threats and masterminding the attack on a New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency vehicle.

He claims that the NDC leadership has been making open threats on radio stations and amassing macho men to intimidate voters during the limited voter registration exercise.

However, Abdallah Salifu, the Upper East Regional Communications Director of NDC, has denied the allegations, stating that the NDC had no involvement in the incident.

He condemned the attack and expressed sympathy for the affected NPP members, calling for investigations to determine the perpetrators.

The conflicting accounts highlight a deepening political rift in the constituency, with both parties trading accusations and denials.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of political opponents and the need for peaceful coexistence in the lead-up to elections.
