Manchester City have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Egypt international Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 25-year-old forward, who has been in scintillating form this season with 15 goals and 10 assists in 17 Bundesliga appearances, joins the Premier League champions on a contract until the summer of 2029.
Marmoush is the latest addition in a busy January transfer window for City, following the acquisitions of Brazilian centre-back Vitor Reis from Palmeiras and defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens. The Egyptian will wear the number seven shirt at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Marmoush expressed his excitement about joining one of the most successful clubs in the world.
“This is a day I will never forget,” he said. “To sign for Manchester City is an amazing feeling. My family and I are so proud and happy to be here in Manchester.
“With Guardiola, his technical staff, and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to improve. That was really enticing for me. And I cannot deny I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and culture. I can’t wait to show the fans what I can do.”
Marmoush’s ability to play across the frontline makes him a versatile addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. The forward was also on Liverpool’s radar last year but opted for City in a move orchestrated by outgoing director of football Txiki Begiristain.
“Omar is an accomplished and exciting forward, and I’m delighted he’s joining us,” Begiristain said. “He has had an outstanding season, and every time we’ve watched him, he’s influenced matches.
“He possesses outstanding pace, awareness, and finishing ability, and he can play in multiple positions. I have no doubt working with Pep and the technical staff will further develop his talent.”
Marmoush joins a City side that has consistently dominated English football under Guardiola and aims to help maintain the team’s success in domestic and European competitions. His arrival adds further depth and dynamism to an already star-studded squad.
The forward is expected to integrate quickly and could make his debut in the coming weeks as City continue their quest for silverware across all competitions.
