The ORAL Team has officially returned a Lexus 507 belonging to Michael Omari Wadie, the former 3rd National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), after investigations revealed that the vehicle was privately owned and not a government asset as initially alleged.
The luxury vehicle was seized by the ORAL Team at a mechanic shop under the suspicion that it belonged to the government. However, after thorough checks, it was confirmed that the car was indeed Mr. Omari Wadie’s personal property.
Expressing his displeasure over the incident, Mr. Omari Wadie criticized the actions of the ORAL Team, calling the seizure unwarranted and disruptive.
“This unnecessary seizure caused me great inconvenience. It’s important that such allegations are thoroughly verified before taking action,” he said.
The seizure and subsequent return of the vehicle have raised questions about the procedures followed by the ORAL Team in identifying and reclaiming alleged government vehicles.
Mr. Omari Wadie called for improved diligence and accountability in their operations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The ORAL Team, tasked with retrieving government assets believed to be in unauthorized possession, has faced criticism in recent times for what some perceive as a lack of transparency and due process in their operations.
This latest incident is likely to fuel the ongoing debate about their methods and the need for reforms.
