Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after failing to meet bail conditions related to an ongoing investigation into a controversial contract awarded under his tenure.
The seasoned broadcaster and two others—Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive of Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems—have been formally charged following extensive interrogations by the OSP.
Mr. Adom-Otchere’s detention stems from his inability to fulfil the bail requirement of presenting two landed properties registered in his name. According to sources, he has informed the OSP that he does not own any landed property in Ghana. Consequently, he remains in custody until the terms are satisfied.
The trio are being investigated in connection with a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private entity reportedly owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML). Preliminary findings by the OSP suggest potential procurement breaches, including the sole-sourcing of a contract to a company not approved by the GACL Board.
The matter has attracted significant public interest, especially given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and growing concerns over transparency and accountability in state contracts.
The OSP has not yet disclosed the full details of the charges but insists its actions are in line with its mandate to root out corruption and ensure compliance with public procurement laws.
