Asamoah Gyan’s Regional Games Initiative Receives Support from National Sports Authority

Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan and his team have received backing from the National Sports Authority (NSA) for their upcoming Regional Games initiative, aimed at promoting sports across all sixteen administrative regions of Ghana.

The endorsement came during a courtesy visit to the NSA headquarters at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 12th, 2024, where Gyan officially invited the NSA leadership to the launch of the event scheduled for June 8th, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo, the Board Chairman of the NSA, hailed the initiative as being in line with the core mandate of the Authority and pledged full support for its success. He emphasized the importance of promoting sports at the grassroots level and commended Gyan for his efforts in this regard.

Director General of the NSA, Hon. Dodzie Numekevor, echoed Boyoyo’s sentiments, affirming the Authority’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance for the smooth organization of the Regional Games. This includes making NSA facilities available for the events, offering technical support for officiating, and providing sporting equipment as needed.

In a gesture of goodwill, Numekevor granted permission for the use of the NSA’s official logo in all promotional materials related to the Regional Games, underscoring the Authority’s endorsement of the initiative.

During the meeting, Deputy Director General Mr. Majeed Bawa and former Ghanaian National soccer star Bafuor Gyan were also present, demonstrating the widespread support for Gyan’s Regional Games project.

The collaboration between Asamoah Gyan and the NSA reflects a shared commitment to fostering sports development and promoting healthy competition across Ghana. With the backing of the NSA, Gyan’s Regional Games initiative is poised to make a significant impact in nurturing sporting talent and inspiring the next generation of athletes nationwide.

As preparations for the launch of the Regional Games gather momentum, anticipation is building among sports enthusiasts, eager to witness the excitement and camaraderie that will unfold on the playing fields of Kumasi. With the support of key stakeholders like the NSA, Gyan’s vision for promoting sports excellence is well on its way to becoming a reality.
