Asante Kotoko SC Slapped with GH¢80,000 Fine by GFA Disciplinary Committee

In a recent development, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has imposed a hefty fine of GH¢80,000 on Asante Kotoko SC for breaching Article 16(c) and Article 16(2)(f) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019 during their Premier League Matchday 6 game against Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

The GFA Prosecutors initially charged Asante Kotoko SC for misconduct, and despite the club pleading not guilty, evidence presented, including video recordings of the match and reports from match officials, led to the Disciplinary Committee finding them guilty.

In their decision, the Committee communicated that the GH¢80,000 fine imposed on Asante Kotoko SC would be directed towards Nations FC to repair the damage caused to the stadium, including the broken seats incurred during the match.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee has been actively adjudicating and sanctioning various clubs, team officials, and players for misconduct offenses across different matches.

The list of those sanctioned includes individuals and entities involved in various Premier League matches such as Hearts of Oak SC, Bechem United FC, Berekum Chelsea FC, Bibiani Goldstars FC, Karela FC, and several others.

The disciplinary actions span a range of offenses, reflecting the GFA’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and sportsmanship of football competitions in Ghana.

The sanctions serve as a reminder to all stakeholders in Ghanaian football to adhere to the established codes of conduct and fair play.

As Asante Kotoko SC faces the financial penalty and the responsibility of repairing damages caused during the match against Nations FC, the broader football community observes these developments, emphasizing the importance of upholding discipline and respect within the sport.
