The Nkoranza Traditional Council, led by Omanhene/President Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, has publicly denounced the Mo Paramount Stool’s recent actions regarding land ownership and chieftaincy, reigniting a longstanding dispute between the two traditional authorities.
In a press release, the council strongly objects to the installation of a new chief, Busi of Kintampo, as the Sompahene of Mo Traditional Area, claiming it is unlawful and violates established boundaries set by the British Colonial Administration in 1919.
The dispute centers around the Mo Paramount Stool’s claims to certain lands, including the Kintampo Falls and Yam Market, which the Nkoranza Traditional Council asserts are rightfully theirs.
The council argues that the installation of the new chief is invalid, as there is already a recognized Kintampohene, Nana Awiti Kuffour, who has been performing his duties without hindrance since 1973.
The Nkoranza Traditional Council warns the Mo Paramount Stool to respect the established boundaries and refrain from making further claims to their lands.
The council asserts that the Mo Paramount Stool’s actions are an attempt to encroach on Nkoranza Stool lands, which have been recognized and respected for centuries.
The press release includes supporting documents, such as gazette notifications and decisions from the British Colonial Administration, to substantiate their claims.
This formal statement serves as a warning to the Mo Paramount Stool to respect the Nkoranza Traditional Council’s rights and boundaries, and to refrain from taking any further actions that may exacerbate the dispute.
The Nkoranza Traditional Council remains committed to protecting its interests and preserving the traditional boundaries that have been in place for generations.
