Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, has been officially named the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming 2024 General Elections. The announcement was made following a unanimous endorsement by the NPP’s National Council, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
In a statement expressing his gratitude, Dr. Prempeh, who was nominated by the NPP flagbearer, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shared his deep honor and sense of duty. “I am humbled to be nominated by our distinguished flagbearer, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and endorsed unanimously by the National Council,” Dr. Prempeh said. He emphasized his commitment to supporting Dr. Bawumia’s vision of propelling Ghana to greater heights.
Dr. Prempeh, who has served in two respected cabinet positions under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, acknowledged the significance of his selection among the many capable personalities within the NPP. He called for unity among party members to achieve their ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation.
He also expressed his gratitude to the National Council, the party’s rank-and-file, and President Akufo-Addo for their unwavering support and faith in him. Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Prempeh credited his previous roles and the confidence shown in him by his colleagues for preparing him for this significant responsibility.
As he steps into the role of running mate, Dr. Prempeh pledged his dedication to supporting Dr. Bawumia in leading a formidable 2024 campaign aimed at breaking the 8-year election cycle and serving Ghana diligently. He urged all party members to unite in their efforts to secure the mandate of the Ghanaian people once again.
“My philosophies remain service and leadership,” Dr. Prempeh concluded, invoking blessings upon Ghana and expressing his readiness to work towards a brighter future for the country.
