In response to misleading reports circulating online, General Manager of FC Samartex Edmund Ackah has issued a statement to clarify comments made during his recent interviews with Asempa FM and Nhyira FM. The reports erroneously attributed the historic success of the club in the 2023/24 season solely to Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum.
Ackah categorically denied these claims, stating that he never credited Dr. Ogum alone for the club’s achievements. Instead, he emphasized the collective contributions of various individuals and entities, including the Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Prof. Joseph Mintah; Retired Referee G. K. Manu; Ghana Football Association Statistician Mohammed Shaban; Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum; and the media.
“My intention was to show appreciation to all those who have contributed in diverse ways to the team’s success,” Ackah explained. He highlighted the significant roles played by Prof. Mintah and Dr. Ogum in recommending the current head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, after Dr. Ogum’s move to the club was halted by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a decision that initially disrupted the club’s preseason plans.
Ackah underscored that the club’s success is the result of a collective effort, involving the head coach, technical staff, players, board of directors, management, and loyal supporters. “We celebrate this achievement as a team and appreciate the contributions of all who have supported us on this journey,” he added.
The statement from Ackah aims to set the record straight and ensure that credit is given where it is due, reflecting the collaborative nature of the club’s remarkable season.
