Bibiani GoldStars beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Dun’s Park

On game day two at Dun’s Park, Eric Bosomtwi struck an incredible goal to give Bibiani GoldStars its first victory of the year over Asante Kotoko.

Goldstars vs Kotoko

Before the game, Bibiani Goldstars head coach Michael Osei said the miners were determined to defeat The Porcupine Warriors in their Dun’s Park they haven’t won a game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko prior the two games played.

The game was off to a strong start for GoldStars, and they nearly earned it until the referee controversially denied a goal in the 20th minute. Alex Aso scored the goal that was controversially disallowed by the referee after Kotoko goalie Frederick Asare made a mistake.

Frederick Asare of Kotoko stopped Appiah McCarthy’s spectacular free kick in the 30th minute of the first half to spare the home team.

Bibiani Gold Stars controlled possession and the chances that were produced in the first half, outpacing Asante Kotoko.

Prince Owusu Kwabena scored the game’s first goal in the 65th minute to give Bibiani Gold Stars the lead in the second half.

Five minutes later, Sherrif Mohammed scored Asante Kotoko’s equalizer with a strong strike inside the area.

Eric Bosomtwi’s exquisite shot from 25 yards into the top right corner gave GoldStars the advantage again in the 73rd minute.

Asante Kotoko’s Steven Mukwala missed the chance to give them a point after goalkeeper Joe Baah made a good save.

While Kotoko continues to go winless, Goldstars managed to hang on for their first victory of the season after losing their first game against Berekum Chelsea.

Supporters of GoldStars were in their numbers to support the team since it’s the team first game at home prior to 2023-24 Betpawa Premier League campaign season.
