Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, has praised Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his tireless efforts in preserving and promoting Ghana’s culture and heritage.
Speaking at the 2024 Arts and Crafts Exhibition, Mr. Darko highlighted the Asantehene’s 25-year reign, marked by initiatives that have enhanced the socio-economic status of the people and boosted tourism in the region and country.
He emphasized the significance of art and craft in Ghana’s economic landscape, noting that artisans’ skills in weaving, carving, pottery, and beads making are not only products but also embodiments of the country’s history, culture, and identity.
By promoting arts and crafts, we preserve our heritage and create sustainable livelihoods for artisans.
The Asantehene’s 25th Anniversary celebrations offer a unique opportunity to attract investments, drive economic growth, and promote tourism, festivals, and traditional events that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom.
