The draw for the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers has been held successfully in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It was done on Thursday at 15:00 GMT after the 45th CAF Ordinary Assembly.
The draw was broadcast live on CAF digital platforms and CAFONLINE.com at 15:00 GMT.
All 54-nations under the Confederation, were divided into nine groups of Plots.
The winners of each group will secure automatic qualification for the World Cup 2026. The four best runners-up from the groups will participate in a CAF Play-Off tournament, with the winner advancing to the FIFA Play-Off tournament.
Four-time African Cup of Nations champions, Ghana were fixed in Pot 2 which had Burkina Faso, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Zambia, DR Congo, Guinea and Cape Verde.
After the draw, Ghana got placed in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
They’ve being drawn alongside Mali, Madagascar, Central Africa Republic, Comoros and Chad.
