Budget 2024: We turned the corner when inflation started declining from 54.1% in December 2022 to 35.2% in October 2023 – Ken Ofori-Atta

In a resounding declaration, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta presented the Budget 2024, showcasing Ghana’s impressive economic turnaround. Addressing the House, he emphatically stated, “We turned the corner,” highlighting key indicators that signal a robust recovery.

A notable triumph highlighted in the Budget is the significant reduction in inflation. Ofori-Atta revealed that inflation, which stood at a staggering 54.1% in December 2022, has seen a remarkable decline to 35.2% by October 2023. This substantial drop is a testament to the effectiveness of the economic strategies implemented over the past months.

The Finance Minister went on to underscore the nation’s economic acceleration. Despite an initially projected growth of 1.5%, Ghana’s economy surged ahead, achieving an impressive average growth rate of 3.2% in the first two quarters of 2024. This unexpected leap demonstrates the resilience of the Ghanaian economy and its ability to outpace projections.

As these figures reverberate through economic circles, analysts and stakeholders are quick to attribute this success to prudent fiscal measures and effective policies. The Budget 2024 reflects a comprehensive strategy aimed at steering the nation toward stability and growth, turning the corner on previous challenges.

The optimistic tone set by Ofori-Atta suggests a newfound confidence in Ghana’s economic trajectory. The Finance Minister’s address serves not only as a report on financial standings but also as a rallying cry for continued resilience and collaboration in the pursuit of sustained economic prosperity.

Ghanaians are now eager to see the tangible impacts of these economic strides in their daily lives. The Budget 2024 provides a roadmap, and as the nation navigates the fiscal year, citizens and businesses alike anticipate the realization of these positive projections, marking a transformative chapter in Ghana’s economic story.
