Police Foil Staged Kidnapping Plot by PRESEC Students in Accra

The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of six individuals, including four juveniles who are students of Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) in Legon, Accra, for orchestrating a staged kidnapping incident.

Among the arrested are two adults identified as Isaac Kissi Adjel, alias Kofi Black, and Courage Telko, alias Timmy.

According to preliminary investigations, the motive behind the staged kidnapping was an attempt by one of the juveniles to extort money from his parents in order to finance a trip abroad.

The group conspired to demand a ransom of Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 340,000.00) from the alleged victim’s parents. However, they only managed to collect Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 20,000.00) before their plot was foiled by law enforcement.

The identities of the juveniles involved have been withheld in accordance with best practice, and their parents and guardians have been duly informed of the situation. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities work to uncover further details surrounding the case.

The revelation of this staged kidnapping has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the influence of peer pressure and the lengths some individuals are willing to go to achieve their goals.

It serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance and parental guidance in safeguarding the well-being and integrity of young people.

As the investigation continues, the Ghana Police Service remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

The swift action taken to apprehend those responsible for the staged kidnapping underscores the dedication of law enforcement to combat crime and maintain peace within the community.
