Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 24-man Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as an international friendly against Morocco.
The squad combines several players who featured at the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States with two debutants and a number of players returning from injury or extended absences.
Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare retains his place in the squad alongside Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
France-based defender Nathaniel Adjei has also earned a recall after nearly a year away from the national team. His return follows a strong run of form for Lorient in the French Ligue 1.
Queiroz has also handed opportunities to SV Elversberg’s Jan Gyamerah and New York Red Bulls midfielder Ronald Donkor following their impressive performances at club level.
One of the major talking points of the squad is the return of Mohammed Kudus. The West Ham United star missed the 2026 World Cup after suffering an injury that kept him sidelined for seven months, but has now recovered and been brought back into the Black Stars fold.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s Ibrahim Osman and Sassuolo midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana are also back in the squad.
The Black Stars will begin their AFCON qualifying campaign with a crucial clash against Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, September 24, before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
Ghana will then travel to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions on Sunday, October 4, as Queiroz continues preparations for the team’s upcoming assignments.
The 24-man squad reflects a blend of established Black Stars players, returning stars and emerging talents as Ghana begins its campaign for a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
