The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed an additional GH¢135.6 million to healthcare providers across the country.

This funding aims to settle outstanding claims for higher-tier healthcare providers from February 2024 and lower-tier facilities from March 2024.

The payment seeks to bridge the payment gap between higher and lower-tier facilities, ensuring that all outstanding payments fall within the agreed three-month reimbursement period, aligning with the NHIA’s commitment to sustainable and efficient healthcare delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Building on the recent release of GH¢300 million to mixed-tier health facilities, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has demonstrated its continued commitment to supporting healthcare providers.

NHIA CEO Dr. Dacosta Aboagye acknowledged the crucial role these facilities play in the success of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to fostering a strong partnership with healthcare providers, while also ensuring that illegal charges are prevented and the scheme’s integrity is maintained.
