The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has announced its plans to organize its flagship Presidential and Vice-Presidential Debates ahead of the December 2024 General Elections in Ghana. This initiative is part of IEA’s ongoing efforts to promote issues-based elections in the country.
The debates will offer a common platform for presidential and vice-presidential candidates to discuss various aspects of Ghana’s development process. It will serve as a policy dialogue where candidates can present their viewpoints, plans, and programs, as well as critique the policies of their opponents and propose alternatives.
For the electorate, these debates will provide firsthand information on the candidates’ plans and programs. Moderators will pose questions based on public submissions, covering a wide range of thematic areas including the economy, governance, natural resources, agriculture, education, health, labor, gender, children, youth, and other social issues.
The specific dates for the debates will be announced at the launch of IEA’s Election Activities. The Institute encourages all candidates to participate and inform Ghanaians of their strategies to address the country’s challenges.
