The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has officially confirmed the passing of its founder and leader, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, fondly known as the “African Star.”
In a statement released by the church and the Safo Family, they expressed their profound sorrow and grief over the peaceful departure of Apostle Safo, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The statement described him as “Ghana’s beloved man of God, the greatest technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist and industrialist,” highlighting his immeasurable contributions to religion, science, technology, and humanity.
Apostle Safo, widely celebrated for pioneering innovations in Ghana’s automobile industry through Kantanka Automobiles and championing local manufacturing, leaves behind an enduring legacy as a visionary who combined faith with practical solutions for Africa’s development.
Quoting Romans 14:8, the Kristo Asafo Church reminded believers of Apostle Safo’s unwavering dedication to God: “For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord.”
