Former Asante Kotoko SC boss, Seydou Zerbo has threatened to drag his former employees to World football governing body, FIFA for his unpaid salaries.
The Ghana Premier League record holder’s (25), on March 27, 2023 parted ways with the Burkinabe trainer by terminating his contract. He signed a two-year deal but had his stint cut short due to poor run of form.
After losing 2-0 to Medeama SC, which took them off the race to win the 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League fired the manager for youth team coach Abdul Gazale taking over. That was never an issue, but the Porcupine Warriors have failed to settle the CAF licence A holder his entitlement despite signing contract with him.
Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah who is now relieved off his position signed an agreement with him to pay three months outstanding salary (arrears) to him till now, the club has not fulfilled their obligation to settle him.
Seydou Zerbo has threatened to visit FIFA and demand his salary, since the club has said nothing to him.
In an interview, Zerbo says process to demand his money through FIFA has begun.
“I have started the process to drag Kotoko to FIFA in order to get my three months’ salaries. After the Medeama defeat in Kumasi, the CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah came to see me and informed me about the decision to terminate my contract. Indeed it was a sad moment for me but I had to accept it and move on,” Seydou Zerbo told Kumasi-based Fox FM.
He added: “We signed an agreement that I will receive three months’ salary following my contract termination but I haven’t received it as of this time. I have called Nana Yaw Amponsah several times but he does not respond. I have even sent him many messages and the situation is the same and so right now my next step is to gather all the documents and report the club to FIFA.”
Zerbo said, he has strong believe that the new Asante Kotoko SC board will settle him, other than that he will have no option than go to FIFA.
“I am told a new board is to be named. I want them to settle me, pay my salary arrears, but I have no option than to go to FIFA if they fail.”
