“Ghana Football has collapsed and they know it” – Former Ghana forward Kwadwo Poku ‘Mahala’

Former Ghana international, Kwadwo Poku ‘Mahala’ has stated emphatically that the state of Ghana Football has collapsed and needs critical attention. Many have argued that the current leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has failed to tackle the lost pride of the football Country.

In 2018, Ghana Football went on it knees following the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Exposé popularly known as ‘Number 12’ which handcuffed many including match officials and GFA officials. It took away then GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi.

Nevertheless, hopes were high for the revival of Ghana Football after the formation of Normalisation Committee which came to pave way for elections and eventually ushered in Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku for the GFA President.

The Association led by Kurt Okraku has come under serious criticism for failing to make the Ghanaian top-flight attractive and better to raise the standard of quality capable of competing with the foreign-based players when invited at the national team level.

In recent times, the domestic league has failed to produce quality players who can equally break into the first team of the Black Stars. In most cases, one or two players earn invites from the Ghana Premier League but ends up being dropped from the match day squad or subsequently dropped from the final list.

The local league can not produce players to battle with the foreign based players when invited for national assignment at the Black Stars camp.

Speaking to mahalafootballacademy.org , ex-Asante Kotoko SC and Black Stars attacker Kwadwo Poku believe the league has collapsed and there is no quality within it for players to compete with Ghanaian players trading their career in Europe.
