Head coach Christophe Galtier has announced that Lionel Messi would leave Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of the current campaign.
“I had the honor of working with the greatest football player ever. Galtier remarked on Thursday in advance of Saturday’s match against Clermont: “This will be his final game at the Parc des Princes, and I hope that he will get the warmest of welcomes.
Messi has been in excellent form this year, producing 16 goals and 16 assists in Ligue 1, but he’s ready to take on a new challenge right now. Given that he traveled to Saudi Arabia earlier this season without permission and as a result was suspended by his club, the country seems to be the World Cup winner’s most likely destination.
Additionally, the Saudi FA president publicly acknowledged the nation’s interest.
Messi had been included in PSG’s advertising for their 2023–24 home jersey, which raised the possibility that he would actually be relocating. Galtier’s remarks, however, have dispelled that notion, and the World Cup winner’s two years in France are soon to come to an end.
Fans will have one more opportunity to see Messi in action when PSG concludes their Ligue 1 campaign against Clermont Foot. The Argentine hasn’t made any announcements about his future, and the 35-year-old is probably going to wait until the end of the summer to make a decision.
