Medeama SC will participate in 2023-24 CAF Champions League after clinching the Premier League title in 2022-23 season. Their triumph is the first of the club’s history, after beating Tamale City FC 3-0 in the last fixture of the season.
By virtue of their Champions league campaign, the Mauves and Yellow outfit will be hoping to choose a comfortable venue where their fans would be close for matches.
President of the club, Moses Armah-Parker has disclosed that they will have their Confederation of African Football Champions League games played at the refurbished Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.
Reports earlier, suggested that Medeama SC would play their matches at Cape Coast Stadium. This was due to the unavailability of Akoon Park since it wasn’t in a good shape to meet CAF standards.
Speaking to Graphic Sports in an interview, Moses Parker confirmed that the development facility, Akoon was 90 percent complete. He was, therefore, hopeful that the upcoming architectural masterpiece would be ready before the continental club competition.
Moses Parker also hinted that the Cape Coast Stadium had been chosen as an alternative venue in case the contractors failed to complete the Tarkwa Stadium before the CAF Champions League began.
Two years ago, Medeama’s sponsor, Gold Fields Ghana Limited, voted $16 million to renovate the stadium into a 10,000-seater edifice with modern facilities.
Among the features are the seating capacity, the playing field, the VIP stand, the media stand, the ticket booth, and the drainage system.
