President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama following his decisive victory in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The acknowledgment came shortly after the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, declared the results.

In a statement released on Monday evening, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful and seamless transfer of power, scheduled for January 7, 2025. He pledged his full cooperation to ensure the transition process is smooth and productive.

“I have called President-elect John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him on his decisive victory,” President Akufo-Addo stated. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration, adding, “I look forward to working with the President-elect and his team to achieve this goal.”

The President commended the Electoral Commission for organizing a credible and peaceful election, which he noted reflects the strength of Ghana’s democracy.

He extended gratitude to all stakeholders, whose commitment ensured a transparent electoral process, and called on Ghanaians to unite in consolidating democracy and the rule of law.

In the spirit of collaboration, President Akufo-Addo has invited President-elect Mahama to a meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process.

This election marks a significant moment in Ghana’s democratic journey, and President Akufo-Addo reiterated his commitment to good governance, peaceful transitions, and maintaining Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.

“May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,” the President concluded.
