In a candid interview with Westgold Radio Takoradi 106.3 FM, SKYY FC Club President Hon. Wilson Arthur opened up about the challenges his team faced during the 2024/25 season, calling it the worst season he’s had since becoming involved in football.
Despite the disappointing results, Arthur took full responsibility for the struggles, stating, “I won’t blame anyone for my bad season but myself.”
Arthur went on to discuss issues with discipline within the team, which he attributed as a significant factor in the club’s underperformance.
“Some of my players were not committed to the team, and Coach Bright Elis had challenges because of this. There is more to coaching than just holding a license; some licensed coaches are doing well in the Division One League, but success requires more than just credentials,” Arthur shared.
In a bold move to rebuild and strengthen the squad, SKYY FC has decided to part ways with 19 players following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

Arthur assured fans that the club is already planning for the future, confirming that they are actively seeking new players to bolster the squad. “We are now left with 19 old players in camp, and we will be adding new players before the start of the 2025/26 season,” he said.
As part of a strategic shift, SKYY FC will continue to camp at SKYY Media House but will play their matches at Daboase St. Martins Park in the upcoming season.
With a stronger focus on commitment and discipline, Arthur is confident that the squad, which now includes five solid strikers, will be more competitive in the 2025/26 Division One League season.
SKYY FC fans are hopeful that these changes will bring a positive turnaround for the club, as they look ahead to a fresh start under new leadership and a revamped squad.
