The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Black Stars midfielder Abu Francis has successfully undergone surgery in Japan after suffering a double bone fracture during international duty.

According to an official update, the operation was made possible through the combined effort of Dr. Prince Pambo, Head of Medical for the Black Stars, medical colleagues from Toulouse FC, and the highly skilled surgical team at the Toyota Memorial Hospital in Japan. The medical team has described the procedure as successful, clearing the way for the player to begin the acute phase of his rehabilitation.

The GFA noted that, in line with the collaborative decision of the Black Stars management and technical teams, one physiotherapist will remain with Abu Francis to support him through intensive physiotherapy sessions, crucial at this early stage of recovery.

Furthermore, a senior technical team member will accompany the player back to his club base in France upon his discharge from the Toyota Memorial Hospital, ensuring continuity of care and professional support as he transitions to the next phase of treatment with Toulouse FC.

The Association has expressed gratitude to all parties who contributed to the successful medical intervention and called for continued support and prayers for the midfielder.

“We are confident that Francis will make a strong recovery,” the GFA assured. “His resilience, combined with the expert care he is receiving, gives us great hope of seeing him back on the pitch in due time.”

Fans across Ghana and beyond have already begun sending messages of goodwill to the player, whose progress will be monitored closely by both the national team medical department and Toulouse FC.
