The football fraternity has been hit with tragedy following the death of a well-known Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter, popularly known as ‘Pooley,’ who was stabbed multiple times during violent clashes at the Nana Koramansah Park in Nsoatre.
The incident occurred during Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League Matchweek 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC, which was marred by acts of hooliganism.
According to reports, Pooley was among the traveling supporters who faced attacks from sections of the home crowd. In the ensuing chaos, he was viciously stabbed and rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Asante Kotoko has strongly condemned the violent scenes, describing them as unacceptable and calling for urgent action from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ensure the safety of players, officials, and supporters at league venues.
