The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a proactive step to ensure the eligibility of its parliamentary candidates by establishing a nine-member committee to thoroughly scrutinize their documents.
This move is aimed at guaranteeing that all candidates meet the requisite Electoral Commission (EC) requirements for filing nominations, thereby avoiding any potential disqualifications.
Chaired by esteemed private legal practitioner Frank Davies, the committee is tasked with verifying the authenticity and accuracy of all documents submitted by each candidate.
This includes ensuring compliance with the EC’s regulations and requirements, as well as compiling a comprehensive report detailing each candidate’s compliance status.
The committee’s work is slated to commence immediately, starting Tuesday, July 23, 2024, as announced in a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
By taking this preemptive measure, the NPP demonstrates its commitment to fielding qualified candidates and upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
