The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 19 individuals suspected of involvement in illicit drug trade and robbery activities during a special operation conducted on June 12, 2025, at the Dominase Onion Market near Kasoa in the Central Region.

The suspects, apprehended following weeks of intelligence gathering, are believed to be linked to a network of criminal activities that have plagued the Kasoa-Dominase enclave. The arrests form part of a broader police effort to restore safety and security in the area, which has gained notoriety for rising crime.

The 19 individuals arrested include Abubakari Ibrahim, Mohammed Awal, Shafiu Salisu, Hamza Amadu, Ali Adamu, Balhani Fuseini, Jamal Haruna, Zakari Abdulai, Abdul Aziz, Bera Kalidu, Moro Baki, Anthony Lucky, Razak Yussif, Sumani Issah, Sulley Mohammed, Abdul Salifu, Eliasu Bukari, Kamelo Muuk, and Osumanu Amadu.

According to a press statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, several exhibits were retrieved during the operation, including quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and controlled pharmaceutical drugs such as Tramadol and “Red” — a known addictive syrup.

All suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities say they will be arraigned before court in due course.

The Regional Police Command has commended the personnel involved in the successful operation and urged them to continue their tireless work in combating crime. The police also appealed to the general public to volunteer credible information to help root out drug trafficking, substance abuse, and robbery in the region.

This latest crackdown forms part of a renewed campaign by law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence in policing efforts across the Central East Region.
