A cloud of uncertainty looms over the Western Region as National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel find themselves in a state of distress due to unpaid allowances.
While counterparts in other regions have received their due payments, those stationed in the Western Region have been left waiting in frustration, with no explanation for the delay.
The situation reached a boiling point when some NSS personnel took matters into their own hands, venting their grievances on Sky Power FM in Takoradi.
In a bid to shed light on their plight, they reached out to the Western Region Director, only to be met with bafflement as he professed ignorance regarding the delay in payments.
According to the affected NSS personnel, they commenced their service on November 1st, 2023, with the expectation of receiving their allowances in a timely manner.
However, despite the passage of several months, they have yet to receive any form of payment for their services.
Adding insult to injury, promises of a two-month allowance disbursement on March 15th, 2024, failed to materialize, leaving the NSS personnel feeling disillusioned and financially burdened.
The ordeal highlights the challenges faced by NSS personnel across the country, who often grapple with delayed payments and bureaucratic inefficiencies.
For those stationed in the Western Region, the situation has reached a breaking point, as they struggle to make ends meet without the financial support they were promised.
As the NSS personnel in the Western Region continue to await resolution, calls have been made for urgent intervention from relevant authorities to address the issue and ensure that their allowances are promptly disbursed.
Until then, they remain in limbo, grappling with the uncertainty of when their hard-earned wages will finally be delivered.
