BREAKING: Laryea Kingston Resigns as Head Coach of Black Starlets (U-17)

Laryea Kingston has resigned from his position as the head coach of the Black Starlets, Ghana’s U-17 national team. This decision follows the team’s failure to qualify for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Kingston, a former Ghanaian international and celebrated midfielder, took charge of the Black Starlets with high hopes of reviving the team’s fortunes. However, the recent qualification campaign ended in disappointment, prompting his resignation.

In a brief statement, Kingston expressed his regret over the team’s performance and his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the young squad. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as head coach of the Black Starlets.

Despite our best efforts, we were unable to achieve our primary objective of qualifying for the U-17 AFCON. I would like to thank the Ghana Football Association, my coaching staff, and the players for their dedication and support. I wish the team all the best in their future endeavors,” he said.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has acknowledged Kingston’s resignation and expressed their appreciation for his contributions. “We respect Laryea Kingston’s decision to step down and thank him for his commitment to the Black Starlets. We will begin the process of identifying a new head coach to lead the team forward,” a GFA spokesperson stated.

Kingston’s departure marks a significant moment for the Black Starlets, who have historically been one of Africa’s most successful youth teams. The team will now look to rebuild and refocus under new leadership as they prepare for future competitions.

The GFA is expected to announce a replacement in the coming weeks as the organization seeks to restore the team’s competitive edge and reclaim its position on the continental stage.
