Chelsea Appoint Enzo Maresca as New Head Coach on Five-Year Deal

Chelsea have officially appointed Enzo Maresca as their new head coach, signing him to a five-year contract with an option for an additional year. Maresca joins the Blues after a successful stint at Leicester City, where he guided the Foxes to promotion as Championship winners.

Maresca’s journey to Stamford Bridge has been marked by a diverse coaching career. He spent a brief period in charge of Parma, and although his tenure there was challenging, his managerial acumen was honed during his time with Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad and his role on Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff.

Maresca steps in as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino, who left Chelsea following a mixed 2023/24 season. Despite signing a two-year contract last summer, Pochettino and the club mutually agreed to part ways after an end-of-season appraisal.

Chelsea’s commitment to Maresca with a long-term contract signals a shift towards stability under the ownership of Todd Boehly and BlueCo, who have already overseen three permanent managers and two caretakers.
