Election 2024: Meet the 24 Presidential candidates

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) headquarters was a hub of activity on Monday, September 9, 2024, as the nomination process for the 2024 presidential election kicked off. Out of 39 aspirants who obtained nomination forms, 24 candidates successfully submitted their nominations before the deadline on Friday, September 13, 2024. The nominees comprise a mix of political party candidates and independent aspirants, including three female candidates.

Notable independent candidates who filed their nominations include Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Samuel Apea-Danquah, and Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar.
Other independent candidates who submitted their nominations are Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, and Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, among others.

On the political party front, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was the first to file his nomination, accompanied by party executives.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman also submitted the nomination of their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, on September 9.

Other political party candidates who filed their nominations include Dr. Hassan Ayariga (All People’s Congress), Bernard Mornah (People’s National Convention), and Kofi Akpaloo (Liberal Party of Ghana), among others.

The three female candidates who filed their nominations are Akua Donkor (Ghana Freedom Party), Janet Nabla (People’s National Party), and Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah.

The successful filing of nominations marks a significant milestone in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.
The EC has assured the public that it will thoroughly review all candidate nomination forms to ensure a smooth electoral process.
