Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has unveiled a comprehensive plan to support agricultural constituencies, including Asunafo South, with initiatives aimed at modernizing farming practices.
During a rally at Sankore in the Asunafo South Constituency on Thursday, October 31, Dr. Bawumia announced the launch of the District Agriculture Mechanization Center Programme.
This program is designed to provide farmers with essential tools and equipment to enhance mechanized farming efforts, thereby improving productivity and efficiency.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the vital role farmers play in Ghana’s economy and food security, acknowledging their contributions to the nation’s development.
Agriculture, Dr. Bawumia noted, will be his top priority. He recognized that over 60% of Ghanaians are farmers, regardless of their location within the country. “Ghana’s growth largely depends on farmers, and they have to be financially stable,” he stated.
To achieve this stability, Dr. Bawumia pledged to support farmers with necessary logistics, including technology, irrigation, and finances to boost their agricultural businesses.
He also promised to continue the good works initiated in the cocoa sector through the DRIP project, which involves constructing roads in various districts.
The District Agriculture Mechanization Center Programme is a key component of Dr. Bawumia’s agricultural plan.
Through this initiative, he aims to distribute farming implements in every district, including tractors, hoes, harvesters, fertilizers, chemicals, and planters.
By empowering local farmers and bolstering the agricultural sector, Dr. Bawumia seeks to ensure Ghana’s food security and economic growth. His commitment to modernizing farming practices has resonated with many farmers and stakeholders in the agricultural industry.
As Ghana prepares for the upcoming elections, Dr. Bawumia’s agricultural plan has become a central aspect of his campaign. His pledge to support farmers and prioritize agriculture has sent a strong message that the NPP is dedicated to Ghana’s development and prosperity.
Dr. Bawumia’s vision for agriculture extends beyond mere rhetoric; it is backed by concrete initiatives and programs designed to transform the sector. By providing farmers with the necessary tools and resources, he aims to unlock Ghana’s agricultural potential, creating a brighter future for farmers and the nation as a whole.
The District Agriculture Mechanization Center Programme and other agricultural initiatives proposed by Dr. Bawumia have sparked hope among farmers and stakeholders. As the election season unfolds, Ghanaians will be watching closely to see how these plans are implemented and whether they will bring about the desired transformation in the agricultural sector.
