Hamburger SV forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has been handed a late call-up to the Black Stars camp following injuries to key attackers Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed the development after both players were ruled out due to knocks sustained in their respective league matches over the weekend.
Thomas-Asante featured for Coventry City in their impressive 3-0 victory over Swansea City. However, the striker was forced off in the 62nd minute and replaced by Josh Eccles after picking up an injury, raising immediate concerns about his availability.
Meanwhile, Williams played the full 90 minutes for Athletic Bilbao in their win over Real Betis. Despite completing the match, medical examinations later revealed he had sustained a knock, ultimately ruling him out of the trip to Vienna.
Their absence has opened the door for Königsdörffer, who has been in fine form for Hamburger SV this season. The 22-year-old forward is expected to add pace, versatility, and fresh attacking options to the Black Stars setup as they prepare for their upcoming assignment.
This call-up presents a significant opportunity for Königsdörffer to stake his claim in the national team and impress the technical handlers as Ghana continues to build depth in attack.
