The High Court-Accra has granted an interlocutory injunction restraining organizers from proceeding with a planned “Celebration of Life” event scheduled for the end of March in Accra.

The ruling follows an application filed by Victor Kofi Owusu, Head of Family of the Ekuana Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta. The court’s decision effectively bars Nana Yaw Akosa, Akosua Serwaa Schindler, Ernestina Fosuh, Wofa Yaw Poku, and their associates from organizing, promoting, or hosting the event.

The said “Celebration of Life,” which was slated for Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Independence Square, has now been completely halted by the court order. The injunction also extends to any similar event planned elsewhere.

According to the court directive, any attempt to defy the order will constitute contempt of court—an offence punishable under Ghanaian law. The legal representatives of the applicant have cautioned all parties involved, including event organizers, venue managers, and participants, to strictly adhere to the ruling.

They further warned that committal proceedings would be initiated against any individual or group that disregards the injunction.

The family, through its head, has called for calm and urged the public to respect the legal process, as well as the privacy and well-being of the family and children involved during this period.

The case is expected to continue in court as the underlying dispute is addressed in the coming weeks.

The Highlife Legend’s immediate family members, led by his sister, Ernestina Fosuh, and Papa Shee, announced a second event in his honour after his controversial funeral on December 13, 2025.

The Celebration of Life of Daddy Lumba was scheduled to be held on March 28 and 29, 2026; however, after it was announced, family head Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu filed an injunction against it at the Accra High Court.

The case was adjourned to March 25, 2026, which saw Papa Shee, Ernestina Fosuh, and Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, all appear before the Accra High Court.

Well, after the deliberations, the case was adjourned to April 23, 2026, throwing the fate of the planned celebration into limbo.
