Former Asante Kotoko SC forward, Francis Andy Kumi has made a strong revelation about his days with the Porcupine Warriors. According to him, some players at Asante Kotoko SC sabotaged him and denied him the opportunity to shine.
Andy, who joined the Porcupine Warriors in 2021 in a long-term contract from Unistar Academy had a difficult stint with the Reds and had to spend just a season. He left to Bechem United FC on a two year deal.
During his stay at Asante Kotoko, Kumi scored 5 goals, helping the side clinch the 2021-22 league title that faithful season under coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Switching camp to Bechem United, he struggled with match playing time and opted to leave after the first round of 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League to Kotoku Royals where many saw his best of form netting goals for the outfit.
Kumi who has officially joined Saudi Arabia top-flight club FK Radnički on a three-year deal spoke about life at Kotoko, and revealed some of his teammates begun to deny him passes to score because he will become the fans favourite and eventually flourish and leave.
‘When I started I was scoring one or two goals but it got to a point some players were saying so many things that when strikers come to Kotoko and start to score.
‘People will praise them and tomorrow they are gone and that was when everything change.
‘I was finding it difficult to get pass to score.”
In 2021, Andy Kumi was included in the Black Stars provisional man squad for 2021 AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome but was subsequently dropped from the final list.
