Ghanaian football giants, Asante Kotoko, have extended a heartfelt message of sympathy and support to the people of Morocco in the wake of a powerful and devastating earthquake that has wrought havoc on the North African nation. The earthquake, which struck parts of Marrakech, has left a trail of destruction and tragedy in its wake, with the famous 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque bearing the brunt of the damage.

Morocco’s Interior Ministry has reported a staggering toll, with at least 296 lives lost in the provinces near the epicenter of the quake. Additionally, a harrowing 153 individuals have been injured and rushed to hospitals for urgent medical attention.

In the face of this catastrophic event, Asante Kotoko, a beacon in the world of football, took to their social media platforms to express their profound sorrow and unwavering solidarity with the people of Morocco. Their message resonated with empathy and hope, offering solace to those who have been affected by this tragedy.

“Saddened by the loss of lives and injuries sustained by our brothers and sisters in Morocco, We at Asante Kotoko stand in full solidarity with the victims of the devastating earthquake,” wrote the club.

Despite the initial reports, the latest figures emerging from Morocco paint an even grimmer picture, with the death toll continuing to climb, now standing at approximately 820 confirmed fatalities. This staggering loss of life is a stark reminder of the profound impact natural disasters can have on communities and nations.

As the world watches with heavy hearts, the message from Asante Kotoko serves as a poignant reminder of the power of sports to unite people across borders, transcending the boundaries of nationality and culture in times of immense sorrow. In this trying moment, the people of Morocco find solace in the compassion and support extended by their brethren from Ghana, standing together in the face of adversity.
