Two Asante Kotoko players, AbdoelKarem Yagoub and Esmat Al Hasan, have gone missing in the United States ahead of the club’s scheduled friendly match.
The players, both of Sudanese origin, reportedly left their team hotel in the early hours of the morning without informing team officials. The club has not heard from them since.
According to reports, Yagoub and Al Hasan had initially requested permission on Friday evening to visit a Forex Bureau to exchange money and send funds to their families in Sudan.
Club officials advised them not to go together but instead one after the other. After this, the players decided not to go at all, only to disappear later during the night when the rest of the team was asleep.
Attempts to reach the players have been unsuccessful as their phones have been switched off. Asante Kotoko, already facing the challenge of traveling to the U.S. with only seven players, is now left with just five for the upcoming match, adding to the team’s growing concerns.
The club is actively working with local authorities to locate the missing players. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
