Former Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy makes his return to football by signing as new Ligue1 side Lorient player, on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Mendy, 29, signs a two-year contract until June 2025 as new Lorient left back after he was found not guilty by Chester Crown Court.
Due to his court case which had rape accusations, his contract with English giant’s Manchester City FC was terminated. He spent close to three years in jail but ended up being innocent of all 10 charges against him.

FC Lorient is pleased to announce today the signing for two seasons of French international left-back Benjamin Mendy (29 years old).
After having passed the traditional medical examination , Benjamin Mendy, 2018 world champion, four-time Premier League winner under the colors of Manchester City and French Ligue 1 champion with Monaco in particular, is strengthening the Lorient squad for this new season.
The native of Longjumeau, who will wear number 5 for Les Merlus, will take his first steps at Espace FCL today.
