Bright Kankam Boadu Crowned SWAG Sports Journalist of the Year at 49th SWAG Awards

Bright Kankam Boadu, a prominent figure in sports journalism, has been named the Sports Journalist of the Year at the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards. 

The ceremony, which celebrates excellence in Ghanaian sports, recognized Kankam Boadu for his outstanding contributions to sports reporting and journalism.

In a heartfelt post on his Facebook page after receiving the prestigious award, Kankam Boadu expressed deep gratitude for the honor, acknowledging the role of journalism in shaping society.

“This recognition reflects not just my individual effort, but the power of journalism that amplifies unheard voices, challenges perspectives, and reveals critical truths,” he wrote.

He used the opportunity to remind his colleagues in the profession of their responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and impact. 

“This is a message to all my colleagues to see journalism as a sacred trust with the public, and a duty to stay committed to upholding the highest standards,” he added.

Kankam Boadu also extended his appreciation to his team, listeners, viewers, and the larger sports journalism fraternity for their support. 

“Thanks so much to my crew, my listeners/viewers, Pure Sports family platforms, and all well-wishers,” he wrote, while congratulating the other nominees for their commendable work, stating, “It’s an award for us all.”

Known for his insightful analysis and unwavering dedication to the craft, Kankam Boadu’s recognition by SWAG is a testament to his influence in sports journalism in Ghana. His win serves as an inspiration to many in the industry to strive for excellence and uphold the values that define the profession.

The SWAG Awards, organized annually, continues to highlight individuals and organizations making significant contributions to Ghanaian sports. This year’s event brought together top athletes, coaches, administrators, and journalists to celebrate their achievements.
