USMNT captain, Christian Pulisic has officially joined Italian giant’s AC Milan after passing his mandatory medicals last week. The 24-year-old signs four-year contract with a further one year.
Christian Pulisic is a new AC Milan player, after sealing a €23 million deal move to reunite with former teammate Olivio Giroud.
Despite interest from some European football clubs including Lyon, the USMNT star pushed to join the Rossoneri after noticed it was time to exit the two-time UEFA Champions League club Chelsea FC.
The American winger will see his contract run till 30 June 2027, with an option to extend his stay until 30 June 2028.
He will wear the number 11 jersey.
“AC Milan is happy to announce the signing of Christian Mate Pulisic from Chelsea FC,” the club said in a statement. “The American winger has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2027, with an option to extend his stay until 30 June 2028.”
Pulisic spoke to the media about joining AC Milan.
“The main reason that prompted me to come here is to be able to restart and reach the top level. I haven’t been able to express myself at my best in recent seasons at Chelsea, but now I’ve moved on and I want to get back to my level. Where will I play? I think both the right winger and the attacking midfielder are the positions I feel comfortable in. I’m also used to playing on the left. I think my role will be decided by time and how I integrate with my teammates,” he said.
“[Rafael] Leao is incredible. He does sensational things and always knows what to do in front of goal. I can’t wait to learn what my best position will be. I want to help the team in the offensive zone. And I can’t wait to do it with him. The number 11, with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, has taken on a legendary meaning. I don’t want to fill that void or replace him. It’s a number that I like.”
The UEFA Champions League winner has capped 60 times with the U.S., scoring 25 goals and winning the CONCACAF Nations League twice.
