The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has strongly condemned Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s running mate, for his remarks comparing President Akufo-Addo’s achievements to those of the late President Kwame Nkrumah.
During his unveiling ceremony in Kumasi, Dr. Opoku Prempeh claimed that President Akufo-Addo’s legacy surpasses that of Kwame Nkrumah, a statement the CPP vehemently rejects.
In a statement released on July 10, the CPP described Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comment as ‘reprehensible and unbecoming of his stature’, adding that any attempt to question or compare Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions to Ghana, Africa, and humanity is ‘a moot question, dead on arrival, outmoded at birth’.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) to apologize and retract his controversial statement, or face consequences.
The party demands that NAPO resign from his ministerial and political positions, and issue an immediate apology and retraction.
If he fails to comply, the CPP will appeal to President Akufo-Addo to relieve NAPO of his duties as Minister of Energy and request Vice President Bawumia to drop him as his running mate.
The party has also called for the removal of NAPO’s statement from the internet, describing it as ‘reprehensible’ and ‘unbecoming’ of his stature.
The CPP views the comparison as ‘dead on arrival’ and considers it too offensive to be referenced or published in any form.
