The Director of Policy Engagement and Partnerships for Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Dr. Kojo Asante,has called on the Special Prosecutor (SP), Kissi Agyebeng,to prioritize the fight against vote buying in the upcoming December polls.
Speaking at the Ashanti Regional dialogue organized by the Center for Democratic Development CDD-Ghana on July 4,2024, at the Royal Lamerta Hotel, the Director for Policy Engagement and Partnerships indicated that it is crucial the ‘SP’ embarks on measures to prevent vote buying come December 7 polls.
Speaking in an interview with media ,the Director, Dr. Asante emphasized the need for the Special Prosecutor to use his office to investigate and prosecute cases of vote buying,which he believes is a threat to the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process.
He further noted that vote buying is a serious threat to Ghana’s democracy and therefore needs to be delt with.
“Vote buying is a corruption issue that undermines our democracy. The Special Prosecutor must take swift action to investigate and prosecute cases of vote buying to ensure the integrity and credibility of our elections.” Dr. Kojo Asante added.
