Ghanaian forward, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh on Sunday made his debut start appearance for FC Zürich in the 2023-24 Swiss top-flight league as they beat Yverdon Sporting Club.
The winger secured a starting berth in their opening fixture of the season as they inflicted a 2-0 win at home Letzigrund to Yverdon. He was very influential in his outfit, sweet victory as he operated on the left side of Zurich attack.
Barnieh inspired Zürich to their deserving win with some delightful football.
FC Zürich secured a first half lead with a 27th minute after Jonathan Okita scored to put FC Zürich in the lead after a cross from Fabian Rohner, where he met with a diving header. The side managed to end the half with a 1-0 lead.
10 minutes after recess, Katic finished off at the second post from Conde pass to make it 2-0 with Yverdon failing to settle down.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh played 69 minutes for FC Zürich, as he was replaced by Kosovo national team player Donis Avdijaj.
It was Barnie’s first start since joining the club from Hearts of Oak SC early 2023.
