Ghanaian coaches don’t learn’ – Charles Taylor slams Ibrahim Tanko

Ex-Ghana international Charles Taylor has blasted Ghanaian football coaches for the performance of Black Meteors Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko.

According to the outspoken, former footballer it was just uncalled for Ghana to suffer a heavy defeat to Morocco 5-1, in the CAF U-23 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament ongoing in Morocco. The Black Meteors awfully succumbed to the aforementioned defeat, after Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko made few changes to his team that beat Congo Brazzaville 3-2.

Ghana begun the campaign clearly with a fantastic plan, scoring thrice in the second half to smash Congo with Ernest Nuamah and Emmanuel Yeboah getting the goals.

Black Meteors defeat to Morocco puts the team in a tight corner, with qualification from Group stage looking blur.

Reacting to the team’s performance, Charles Taylor stated that, Ibrahim Tanko was among the many Ghanaian coaches who only seek eligibility by acquiring certificates rather than learning.

He says, the coach’s choice of line-up against Morocco showed his level of incompetence.

“Ghanaian coaches just go after the certificates without learning anything. If you look at the kind of defence Ibrahim Tanko set up for the game, it clearly tells you they don’t learn.

“If you’re a good coach you would be able to build a formidable team within three weeks regardless of the unavailability of some of the players,” he told Angel TV.

“The No. 7 shirted for instance was just terrible. Nothing showed that he was a professional player,” he added.

Ghana are still bent on making it beyond the group phase and eventually finishing in the top three in order to earn qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris, France.
