Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs are set for a significant financial boost ahead of the upcoming season, following the announcement of a groundbreaking partnership between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Production Limited (APL), a subsidiary of Media General.
At the official launch of the GFA-APL partnership held in Accra, GFA President Kurt Okraku revealed that each of the 18 GPL clubs will receive a staggering GH¢1 million before the start of the new season.
The deal, aimed at strengthening the commercial appeal and broadcast quality of the league, is expected to reshape the landscape of Ghanaian football.
“With the new partnership with Adesa Production, each GPL club will receive GH¢1 million before the start of the season,” President Okraku proudly announced, drawing applause from stakeholders present.
The partnership marks a new era for the GPL, as Adesa Production—renowned for its quality broadcasting and media production—takes over the rights to produce and distribute league matches across various platforms.
The collaboration is also expected to increase visibility for the league, attract sponsors, and provide fans with better access to live games and content.
“This is a pivotal moment for Ghanaian football,” Okraku added. “This injection of funds will support clubs in their operations, infrastructure development, player welfare, and competitiveness. It’s about time our league received the commercial investment it deserves.”
The GFA-APL deal reflects the Association’s broader vision to elevate the GPL into a commercially viable and professionally run competition. It also aligns with recent reforms aimed at improving governance, transparency, and fan engagement in domestic football.
Representatives from Media General emphasized their commitment to producing top-tier football content and bringing the passion of the Ghana Premier League to every home. “Our aim is to rebrand and repackage the league to attract new audiences, partners, and revive the pride of Ghanaian club football,” a Media General spokesperson said.
With the GH¢1 million per club financial support on the way, anticipation for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is at an all-time high, with clubs, players, and fans excited about what promises to be a transformative campaign.
