Renowned Ghanaian gospel act, Obaapa Christy, has made daring claims that she wouldn’t hesitate collaborating with Dancehall act, Shatta Wale, if he approaches her for a gospel project.
Speaking on “UNITED SHOWBIZ” which airs on UTV, She stated in reference with her “Hyɛberɛ sesa foɔ”, Gospel songs are literally what happens in our daily lives. You put those challenges and experiences in a song and add the name of God to it.
“If you take my “Hyɛberɛ sesa foɔ” for example, it tells about how people even finds it hard to come out from certain situations even from families. Nonetheless, if you pray hard on it, God can make a way. This is what happens in everyday life. Adding God’s name to it make it a gospel. So tagging secular musicians and songs as worldly doesn’t seem right to me. We all do worldly things literally, the clothes and things we wear are all worldly. So I’ll rather classified songs as “sensible and nonsensical”. For me, if Shatta Wale should call for a collaboration on a gospel song, I will do it, because it’s gospel.”
