The 2026 edition of the Ghana Music Awards delivered a night of celebration, recognition, and unforgettable moments as the country’s biggest music stars gathered to honour excellence across the industry.
The biggest winner of the night was Black Sherif, who clinched the prestigious Artiste of the Year award, cementing his dominance in the Ghanaian music scene over the past year. His critically acclaimed project Iron Boy also secured Album/EP of the Year, while his hit song Sacrifice earned him both Best Afropop Song and Songwriter of the Year.
Rapper Medikal also had a remarkable night, winning multiple awards including Hiplife Song of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year with Shoulder. The song, which featured Shatta Wale and Beeztrap, additionally picked up Collaboration of the Year, while its producer A-town was named Producer of the Year.
Highlife sensation Kofi Kinaata continued his consistent run of success, taking home both Highlife Song of the Year with It is Finished and Best Highlife Artiste of the Year.
In the vocal categories, Asiamah won Male Vocalist of the Year for Akoma, while Enam secured Female Vocalist of the Year with Amin.
Gospel music also had its moment, with Diana Antwi Hamilton emerging as Gospel Artiste of the Year. Kofi Owusu Peprah’s Big God Afro won Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year, while Piesie Esther picked up Best Traditional Gospel Song with Nyame Ye.
The hip-hop category saw Strongman win Rap Performance of the Year, while Black Sherif’s Where Dem Boyz was adjudged Hiphop Song of the Year.
Afrobeats and Afropop categories were equally competitive, with Wendy Shay winning Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year. Kojo Blak’s collaboration with Kelvyn Boy titled Excellent won Best Afrobeat Song of the Year, while Kojo Blak also took home the New Artiste of the Year award.
In the reggae and dancehall category, Stonebwoy was crowned Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, while Moily’s Shake It to the Max Remix won both Reggae/Dancehall Song and International Collaboration of the Year.
Veteran highlife legend Daddy Lumba was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, drawing applause from fans and industry stakeholders for his immense contribution to Ghanaian music over the decades.
Other notable winners included Kwabena Kwabena, whose Enso Nyame Ye won Record of the Year, and music group Keche, who were named Group of the Year. Arathejay’s Put Am On God was awarded Best Music Video, while Daniel Grull won Audio Engineer of the Year.
The African Song of the Year went to Nigerian superstar Davido featuring Omah Lay for With You, highlighting the continued collaboration and influence across the continent.
The 2026 Ghana Music Awards once again showcased the depth of talent in the industry, celebrating both established icons and rising stars while reinforcing Ghana’s place as a powerhouse in African music.
